Web Sites
Websites are generally the front page of any organization. Most of the details
public should know about the organization will be published here. These can be
general information, business promotions, marketing tool, or any such matter.
A website is a set of related documents served from a home page, on the
internet, read using browsers. Website pages can contain plain text, pictures,
audios, videos, etc. Websites can be used for many purposes including Business,
Educational, Social, Collaboration, etc.
Examples of common website categories are:
1. Static (Content will remain same all the time, until changed by a programmer
at back-end)
2. Dynamic (Content can change automatically based on several settings at
back-end)
3. Interactive (Can display information from the site & accept information from
public. This is a combination of a web application and dynamic website)
4. e-Commerce (This is similar to Interactive site, but limited to purchases
through website)
5. Web Application (This is a multiuser software application made available on
internet so that it can be accessed/used from anywhere in the world)
6. Web Portal (This is another form of clustered websites. This is a collection of
several of the above type of web-sites of one organisation made available on
one website, through mutiple windows.)
